Eco-friendly mechanochemical synthesis of titania-graphene nanocomposites for pesticide photodegradation

Titania graphene hybrid nanocomposites (TiO2-FLG) synthesized from graphite and TiO2 precursors, in a simple sustainable approach via three-step method, including the mechanochemical treatment of pre-synthesized FLG NPs are efficient has led to preparation TiO2-FLG as nano-catalysts for photocatalytic degradation complex mixing pesticides (isoproturon, pyrimethanil, alachlor methomyl). The effect few layer (FLG) loading (0–1.0%) was analyzed define optimal ratio compared with corresponding physical mixtures. X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRD) patterns all these photocatalysts have presented same crystal structure, anatase main crystalline phase brookite secondary phase. An interaction between structure nanoparticles been observed Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDX), photoelectron (XPS) Raman spectroscopy studies, indicating that is mainly deposited on surface wrapping nanoparticles. presence low concentrations activation key steps improve activity nanocomposites. TiO2-FLG-0.5% nanocomposite, circa 1.9 % content graphitic carbon surface, showed best performance pesticides. Pesticides were completely removed at 350 min, around 82 total organic (TOC) conversion achieved 540 min irradiation time.
